We're so busy going and going that we forget to take time to BREATHE and pay attention to what's going on. Do you ever feel that way?
We're used to keeping the wheels turning and making sure we're busy chipping at our to-do lists and that's all good but...don't forget to search within.
Taking the time to really look within and allowing yourself to slow down and check in, can be not only be healing, but also help you realign yourself, your priorities, your goals, your focus, and your efforts.
My motto is to simplify. To simplify my business, my processes, my environment...my life. It's a never-ending practice. I truly believe this simple exercise helps me be more aware of what I need to let go of and have more mind space to acknowledge the things that are good in my life and feel grateful for them.
Here are some questions I often ask myself as a self-checkin. I think about these things and find ways to adjust:
〰️What brings you joy?
〰️What uplifts you?
〰️What brings you down?
〰️Why are you feeling___ (what caused that emotion?)
〰️What are you attracted to? Visually, emotionally, on social media, about others, what you consume, etc.
〰️What do you need more or less of?
〰️What are you consuming and why?
〰️Why are you making the decisions your make?
〰️How are you feeling at the end of the day?
〰️How are you feeling at the start of the day?
〰️How are you using your time?
〰️How would you want your life to change?
〰️What can you do differently tomorrow to help you feel better (more confident, less tired, less overwhelmed, more joyful, less stressed, etc)
Writing three things I'm grateful for each day (thanks for the idea Melinda) has been extremely helpful. I text my friend Fin daily and write it on my journal at the end of my entry, just three simple bullet points.
I'm also writing these down in my planner at the end of the month and guess what? I'm much more aware of the big and little things I take for granted. There's so much to be grateful for, even when I don't feel like being grateful at all, even when I had a rough week or feel like my life is falling apart. Digging deep within and finding *something* to be grateful for puts things in a different perspective.
Do you have any daily practices or rituals that have helped you?
